The Badminton Dorval Club is here to promote a healthy lifestyle in the awesome sport of badminton.
We are here to help provide a safe environment in which our members can enjoy the sport and better their skills.
We ask that you refrain from entering the gym with footwear (boot, sneakers, shoes, etc) that was worn outside. This will bring in dirt and dust indoors onto the court floor. This results in an unsanitary floor that can also become slippery resulting in possible player injury.
It is preferable and recommended to use court/rubber shoes for this sport as they offer proper footing for the sport. Regular sneakers may not provide sufficient support and can result in player injury.
Protective eyewear is not mandatory but seeing as how fast the sport is, it is something to consider.
Attitude & Behaviour
We are here to have fun and would like to keep it that way.
There may come times when player skill levels clash. Please do not look down upon your fellow player. We were all beginners once. Elitism will not be tolerated.
If there are disagreements on the court concerning points or the play, please handle it accordingly as mature, respectful individuals. Please do not escalate it into unnecessary drama. We are a club, not an international tournament.
Games are played in sets of 21 points. There are not any best of two, or best of five matches, etc. This is to ensure constant rotation of players on the court.
Our club follows the rules set by the Badminton World Federation which can be found here.
Mentoring & Training Program
If you are new to the sport and feel overwhelmed, fear not. We feature a type of mentorship offered by some members of the club. We would be more than happy to teach you basic knowledge and techniques to get you started.
